Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? Good! Here are the ones Oviedo and Seminole County parents ask us most. Don't see yours? Call (407) 542-0062, email explorationsoviedo@gmail.com, or book a tour.
What is Explorations, and what programs do you offer?
Explorations Child Care and Learning Center is a play-based early learning center. At our Oviedo location we plan to serve infants (6 weeks and up), toddlers (1s), twos, preschool (3s), Florida VPK (4s), and school-age summer camp. We do not offer before- or after-school care here. See all programs on our Programs page. We're part of the Explorations family, serving families since 2014 in New Jersey and Groveland, Florida.
Where are you located?
We're at 1500 Swanson Dr, Oviedo, FL 32765, in Seminole County—convenient for families in Oviedo and nearby communities. Get directions on our Contact page, or call (407) 542-0062.
What ages do you serve?
We care for babies from 6 weeks old, toddlers, twos, threes, and fours (including Florida VPK once we're approved). In summer, we also run a school-age summer camp.
When does the Oviedo center open?
We're opening soon. Our Florida DCF license is pending. Call or email us to hear about tours and open house dates.
What are your hours?
We're open Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–6:30 PM.
Are your teachers trained and screened?
Yes. Florida requires child care staff to complete background screening and state-required training through the Department of Children and Families. Our team follows those requirements.
How do I schedule a tour?
Call (407) 542-0062, email explorationsoviedo@gmail.com, or request a visit on our Contact page. We'll walk you through the building and answer questions about the room that fits your child.
What is the enrollment process?
After a tour, enrollment typically includes completing required forms, providing immunization and health records, and paying a registration fee. Ask us for the current amount and document list. See Tuition & Enrollment or contact us for details.
How much is tuition?
Tuition depends on your child's age and schedule. Call (407) 542-0062 or book a tour to get current rates.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes. We offer sibling discounts. Ask us when you tour, or call (407) 542-0062 for current family pricing.
Will you offer VPK? Is it free?
We plan to offer Florida VPK once we're approved and open. Florida VPK instruction is free for children who live in Florida and turn 4 on or before September 1 of the school year. Apply for your certificate through the Early Learning Family Portal, then bring it to us to enroll.
Will you accept School Readiness?
We plan to accept School Readiness funding through the Early Learning Coalition of Seminole (elcseminole.org) once we're approved. The coalition decides who is eligible.
What are your teacher-to-child ratios?
Our ratios follow Florida child care licensing rules. Ask us about each room when you tour.
How do you keep children safe?
Safety comes first. Our license with the Florida Department of Children and Families is pending, and we'll share the number as soon as it's issued. Ask about our safety practices when you tour. Our full policies are available upon request in our family handbook.
What happens in bad weather or an emergency?
We follow written protocols for inclement weather and other emergencies. Parents are notified promptly if the center closes early, opens late, or needs you to pick up your child. Ask about current procedures when you tour.
How will I know how my child's day went?
Teachers are happy to chat at pickup. We'll share more about daily updates as we get closer to opening.
Do you help with potty training?
Yes. We partner with families when a child shows signs of being ready, so home and school use the same routine.
Are meals and snacks included?
Yes. Breakfast, lunch, and snack are included. We participate in the USDA school food program.
Do you offer before- and after-school care?
Not at this location. For school-age kids, we offer summer camp.
